come let us return to the lord by minister joyce obed

Hosea 6:1-5

Message Bible version – “Come on, let’s go back to God. He hurt us, but he’ll heal us. He hit us hard, but he’ll put us right again.

Bible in Basic English – Come, let us go back to the Lord; for he has given us wounds and he will make us well; he has given blows and he will give help.

Some of us feel hurt by God or children/ministers of God, I invite us to return. God is always operating from a place of love. He has done it because He loves us. Hebrews 12: 4-13

Always interpret the dealings of God from a place of love

A. The call to come
Come – a word used where there is a distance between the one speaking and listening
Draw close
By the time the Lord is using this word, the people had departed or stood afar off.
Signs that we are no longer close, and we need todraw close to God
1. When we are no longer hungry for God
2. When we start struggling to pray and fellowship with God
3. When we do not look forward to studying and doing the word of God.
4. When we start giving excuses for not serving God
5. When the work of God feels like a burden instead of a joy/privilege
Reasons that make us stand far from God
1. Unanswered prayer
2. Absence of things we have trusted God for
3. Presence of comfort or things we wanted
4. Long waiting periods
5. Pride or being full loving or serving God conditionally instead of unconditionally;
6. Works of the flesh – Colossians 3:

B. The return
1. Repenting – Joel 2:
2. Love the Lord unconditionally and deeply cherish Him“‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, (Mathew 22: 37, Deuteronomy 6:5)
3. Renewed hunger for the Lord and seeking Him diligently. It is time to make the Lord the ultimate priority not the first priority. Psalms 42:  Psalms 63
4. Be deliberate about pressing on to know the LordMathew 5: 33-34. Philippians 3:8-14
5. Living a Spirit-led life with full reliance on the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:
C. The promise
1. He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth: This passage along with others (Deuteronomy 11:14, Joel 2:23)demonstrates God’s double restoration.
2. He will heal and bandage us (Hosea 6:1)
3. He will revive us (Hosea 6:2)
4. He will raise us up (Hosea 6:2)
5. We will live with Him eternally as long as we finish the race
