We Don’t Want to Know What We Don’t Know! Or do We? Part 2 by Rev. Ron Wooten

PART 2 – We Don’t Want to Know What we Don’t Know, Or Do We?

2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[a] 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

AS WE INTRODUCED OUT TOPIC LAST WEEK OF BEGINNING A TEACHING ON THE TIMES WE ARE LIVING AND THE COMING END TIMES, AS PROPHESIED AND DECLARED IN THE BIBLE, RIGHT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

I SPENT MOST OF LAST WEEK MAKING A CASE FOR THE ACCURACY OF THE BIBLE AND THE PROPHECIES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN FULFILLED.

I CLOSED MENTIONING GENESIS 12:1-3. WE WILL PICK UP THERE THIS WEEK.  ONE THING WE MUST SEE ABOUT BIBLICAL PROPHECY, IT THAT IT IS FOCUSED ON ISRAEL.  PEOPLE WONDER WHY WE DON’T SEE THE US, KENYA, SOUTH AFRICA, THE UK IN END TIME PROPHECY.                                   #1 – THE EVENTS OF THE END TIME ARE FOCUSED ON ISRAEL.                          #2 – I BELIEVE THE MAIN REASON – IS THAT MUCH OF AFRICA, THE US, PARTS OF EUROPE ARE STILL VERY STRONG CHRISTIAN NATIONS. WHEN THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE MAJOR PERCENTAGES OF THEIR POPULATIONS WILL DISAPPEAR. (We will talk about this more maybe next week.)

Genesis 12:1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

  1. I Will Make your Name Great –

Abraham is one of the main characters of the Christian Bible.  He is mentioned in much of the Old Testament and the New Testament.  He is looked at the father of the Israel as we just spoke.  However, in the World’s eyes Abraham is much more than that.  He may be the most well known Character of our Bible in the World today.

He is known as the Father of all the Jews and all of the Muslims around the world and is arguably the Number 1 patriarch of the Christian World, and after importance to only our Lord and Saviour Jesus.

Of the almost 8 billion people on the face of this earth, more than 5 billion hold this man who when God called him from his homeland, had no name or reputation outside of his small circle, he had no Children or even a big following.  The one nephew that came with him finally left him.

God told him, I will make your name GREAT.  WHEN GOD SPEAKS, WHEN GOD DECLARES SOMETHING OVER OUR LIVES, HE HIS ABLE TO OVERCOME EVERY OBSTACLE THAT MAY BE THROWN UP IN FRONT OF YOU AND MAKE YOU GREAT.

When Abraham died, He had no real idea of the impact of Obeying a voice that called him to leave his home would have on his life.  Today we look at ABRAHAM AND WE CALL HIM A GREAT MAN.

  1. I will Make you a Great Nation –

Abraham was named Abram at the Time.  When God Called him, he and his Wife Sarah, had not Children.  God made this promise to him and many years went by.  Abram finally came to God and asked him for Permission to make Eliezer, a faithful servant in his household, his heir.  Abram and Sarah could not have children of their own.

This happened in Genesis 15 and God not only tells him that Eliezer would not be his heir, but that the nation that comes from him would face difficulties, go into bondage for 400 years, but that they would be become great.  Abram and Sarai make mistakes, a son named Ishmael is born through a concubine, but in Gen 17 God changes Abram to Abraham, and Sarai to Sarah, and at 99 years old, God tells him now your son will be born. His Son Issac is born and becomes the father of Jacob & Esau.

I WANT TO LOOK AT 2 SPECIFIC THINGS ABOUT ISRAEL THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN UNDERSTANDING BIBLE PROPHECY.  REMEMBER I SAID LASTE WEEK THAT THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS FROM CHAPTER 5 – 22, I NOT ABOUT THE CHURCH, BUT ABOUT ISRAEL.

  1. ISRAEL WILL NEVER CEASE TO EXIST.

More than hundred years before Jacob, aka Israel, led his sons to Egypt and then they became Slaves, God has already prophesied they they would become a great nation.  NOT ONLY DID GOD MAKE A GREAT NATION OF ISRAEL, FROM THE TIME ISSAC WAS BORN, THEY HAVE NEVER CEASED TO BE A VIABLE PEOPLE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

Probably one of the greatest Testaments of the Bible’s accuracy and credibility is the Continued Existence of Israel and the Jews, as a Nation and a People.

Jeremiah 31: 35 This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun
to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord Almighty is his name:
36 “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,” declares the Lord, “will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.”  37 This is what the Lord says:
“Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done,” declares the Lord.

From the time almost 4000 years ago when God called and Spoke to Abraham until today Israel has never ceased to exist.  Through persecution, hundreds of years of bondage, thousands of years of Anti-semitism and attempts of complete Genocide they Still exist.

From the year 70 AD when they were defeated by the Romans and basically scattered across the earth, until they were restored and declared a Nation again in 1948, they lived, existed, multiplied and thrived without a Homeland or Identity. In modern history though they make up less than 1% of the world’s population, they have had more achievements in Education, finance, politics and other areas than any people close to it size. In technology names like Intel (Grove and Vadasz), Google (Brin and Page), Oracle (Ellison), Microsoft (Balmer), Dell (Dell), Qualcom (Jacobs), Facebook (Zuckerberg and Sandberg). In finance we know Goldman Sachs, Rothschild, Warburg, Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts, Wells Fargo, Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, and many more.  Over 180 Pulitzer Prize winners, 25+ Nobel Prize winners and so many other accolades.

Let me read this quote from JC Ryle, “Though Israel has been scattered Israel has never been destroyed.  For 1800 years the Jews have continued as a separate people without a King, Land or Territory, but were never absorbed among the nations. They have often been trampled underfoot, but never shaken from the faith of their Father’s. They have often been persecuted, but never destroyed.  At this very moment they are a Distinct and peculiar people. They are a Unanswerable argument in the way of the Infidel, a puzzling difficulty in the way of a Politician and a outstanding lesson to the World of the Faithfulness of God.”

Ryle goes on to say, “Many Nations and People have come and gone and been absorbed by conquering nations, but this has never been so with the Jews. Dispersed as they are, there is a principle of Cohesion among them which no circumstances have been able to melt. Wherever they are the Jews always remain the Jews. 3000 years ago Balaam said of them,  in Numbers 23 when the Moabites hired him to Curse Israel.

Numbers 23:8-10- How can I curse those whom God has not cursed?
How can I denounce those whom the Lord has not denounced?
From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them.  I see a people who live apart and do not consider themselves one of the nations.
10 Who can count the dust of Jacob or number even a fourth of Israel?

The Bible tells us that not only could Moab not curse them, but God put a curse on Moab and 4 other nations who tried to destroy Israel and Defeat God’s plan. The OT peoples of Moab, Ammon, Philistia, Edom and Amalek are no more, but Israel not only survives but thrives.

  1. BEFORE THE END THEY HAVE TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMELAND.

Jeremiah 29:10-11 – This is what the LORD says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah says this: 31:8 I, the Lord, will bring my people back from Babylonia and everywhere else on earth. The blind and the lame will be there. Expectant mothers and women about to give birth will come and be part of that great crowd.
They will weep and pray as I bring them home. I will lead them to streams of water. They will walk on a level road and not stumble. I am a father to Israel, my favorite children. 10 Listen to me, you nations nearby or across the sea. I scattered the people of Israel, but I will gather them again. I will protect them like a shepherd
guarding a flock;

Isaiah 11:11 indicates there would be a day when God would raise his hand “a second time” to gather the children of Israel to their homeland. The first return was predicted by the prophet Jeremiah to take place after Israel had been in captivity for 70 years (Jeremiah 29:10), and according to Ezra 1:1 happened precisely as foretold.

After 500 years of intermittent and partial sovereignty in the Land, the Jewish people were once again dispersed under the Roman Empire in AD 70. After 2,000 years, they have now returned and reestablished sovereignty. No other people group has managed to survive two exiles—much less one that was 2,000 years long—and then return to reestablish national sovereignty.

This second return was to be from every nation where they had been dispersed (Jeremiah 16:14–15; 23:3, 7–8; 29:14; 31:7–8), not just Babylon. Over the past 120 years or so, more than 3.5 million Jews have immigrated to the Land of Israel from all over the world—from the north, south, east, and west—in literal fulfillment of God’s promises (Isaiah 43:5–6).

Isaiah 43:5–6 – “Do not be afraid, for I am with you;

I will bring your children from the east

and gather you from the west.

I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’

and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’

Bring my sons from afar

and my daughters from the ends of the earth.”

Next week we will begin to look at Time Lines of where we are in God’s Timeline and the events that are to come.

It is vitally important to understand what I have tried to lay out before you the past two weeks.  Just about every secular voice in the world and sadly even some of the Religious voices, just the way they did in the Bible times, want to always portray and predict PROSPEROUS AND  BLESSED TIMES.

Let me close with the words of  Jesus.

Matthew 24:3-14 He is talking to His Disciples.

3b “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.  Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
